I made BREAD!!!

Yeah me! I made this shit! I am so so so psyched! I've had a yeast phobia for a long time but today I went to the natural grocery store in Willow Creek and they were selling this shitty looking wheat bread for $5. I thought "Oh hell no, I can make my own." So I went home and that's what I did. I used the Tassajara Bread book and everything turned out just fine. I do think I'll try sour dough next time and I'd add a little more salt but for my first try I really can't complain.

Hand Crafted Tempeh Made by Me!

I made tempeh. That's right, me. I boiled some beans, sprinkled some spores, let the mix sit in a warm box for a day and whala! Tempeh. I'm super stoked because I totally love tempeh and have been wanting to make it for a long time. Finally, finally, finally I did it. It's amazing what you have time for when you don't have any responsibilities.

So I got to thinking, that I've lived for the most part a lifestyle dominated by thoughts about the future. You know, learning stuff to put into practice in the future, making comitments and investments that will pay off in the future. Interestingly that lifestyle came to a crashing halt, weirdly, and now I'm kinda forced to do things as if now were the only moment that matters. In a Zen sense, this is true. I'm not saying this is entirely a good thing, it can feel uncomfortable, especially when an undisclosed family member starts nagging me about my life plans. So I made tempeh. I'm playing the guitar. I've gone running a few times. It's amazing how much time future oriented activities can take up because now I seem to have lots of time for stuff. Like calling people and making moldy soybean cakes.
