Visualize Impatience

This weekend there was a craft fair in Forks of Salmon. I signed up to sell fermented goods, namely tempeh, cashew cheese and kombucha. I was psyched. Unfortunately I had to waite all week for my tempeh spores to arrive in the mail and by the time they showed up I was starting to panic. Would I be able to produce in time for the event? I got to work but I didn't dry the beans thoroughly because it was taking too long to dry them, I set them in a closet with the heat cranked up too high (to get it fermenting faster) and then pulled the tempeh cakes out too early. My end result- stinky, slimy tempeh. I considered selling imperfect goods but in the end decided to feed it to our chickens. I am currently feeling antsy about something else so I'm using this tempeh debacle to remind myself that acting on impatience can lead to complete and utter failure. Somethings really need to be given proper time to ferment.

Pizza night at the Funny Farm!

I am thoroughly obsessed with food. I'm mostly obsessed with cooking it. Yesterday I had a hankering for pizza so after work I made the whole damn thing- dough, sauce, chopped up veggies, shredded cheese (for the non-vegan of the house), fried up some homemade tempeh and ended up with de-licous pizza. Go me.
